2008 JCEP Regional Workshops

The Joint Council of Extension Professionals is pleased to sponsor the 2008 JCEP Regional Leadership Workshops in two exciting locations. The Northeast & Southern Regions will meet in Orlando, Florida, February 5 - 7 and the North Central & West Regions will meet in San Diego, CA , February 20-22.

The Regional Leadership Workshops, "Reaching All Generations in Your Extension Efforts," are designed to help participants understand the diverse ways that the different generational audiences we work with learn. We live in an inter-generational society where Extension programming must reach individuals of all ages. There is the probability of two or three, or even four generations within a single program audience, which makes program delivery challenging at the least. Extension delivery methods will need to continue to adapt to reach and engage the audience, and address its varied needs and preferred styles of learning. This will involve using new and often multiple delivery methods.

This two-part workshop will highlight some of the characteristics and values of these diverse learners and identify emerging tools and techniques that can be used by Extension to reach and engage them more effectively. The latest technology and research in the areas of communication and information transfer will be shared and demonstrated. This workshop will engage Extension professionals in thinking about how best to work with this diversity in their programming, regardless of the program focus.
